Organic pesticides

Organic pesticides are used to control pests from the agricultural fields. It can be prepared at home by mixing natural ingredients like available plants extract, usual spices and minerals. In order to implement synthetic-free organic farming techniques, several organic pesticides are used for effective pest control.

Benefit for the user:

  • Environment friendly, Less side-effects compared to chemical pesticides
  • Cost-effective
  • Likely to be benefited for the increasing demand of organic branded food market

Contribution to Climate Change Adaptation:

  • Environment-friendly, emits comparatively less methane then synthetic pesticides.

Regional Feasibility:

  • All over the country, especially areas where agricultural fields are often inundated by the water from the river or canals like in Gaibandha, Kurigram, Sirajganj, Jamalpur, Rajshahi, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola etc.

How to Prepare:

Organic pesticides can be prepared by mixing onion, garlic, chilli powder, neem, mahogany, soap, water, and other natural ingredients. Besides these, several organic pesticides are also available in the market.

Cost:

  • BDT 100-500 per liter for preparing organic pesticide, but it will require 500-1500 BDT for purchase from the market.
