Visiting researcher
The Climate Centre is a unique hub for conducting action-oriented research, where both academics and practitioners from national, regional, and international platforms can meet and work independently, or in collaboration. The Centre provides a space for field-based experiments at its location in Gazipur District, as well as at its project area in the coastal belt of Bangladesh, which is highly vulnerable to climate change. Moreover, the place is very amenable to the needs of visiting researchers, PhD candidates, masters students, interns, and volunteers from various college-universities within Bangladesh and beyond. Last but not least, this Centre facilitates the research journey from desk to real field where rural people face devastating climate impact frequently. Meanwhile, the established solutions in the Centre will inspire new scientific approaches to future improvement of the fates of climate victims all over the world. Sometimes, it is quite difficult for researchers to visit the various parts of Bangladesh, especially the significant ecological zones. This centre unites the several ecological zones, models climate impacts in them, and showcases useful solutions to combat climate change damages. It is closely attached to ICCCAD, Bangladesh Agriculture University, as well as the Jahangirnagar University to explore research in several sectors of climate change arena. Visiting researchers can work here for 2-6 months (extension of period is possible as required). They can work on climate resilience, mitigation, technology transfer, Community Based Adaptation (CBA), Loss and Damage (L & D), climate risk assessment and renewable energies for rural communities, where the mother organization CCDB has been working on last 2 decades.
