Organic Food Forest
A food forest, also called a forest garden, boasts of a diverse range of edible plants that mimics the ecosystems and patterns found in nature. We also produce organic food, available for purchase by any visitor. Forest gardens depend heavily on a healthy ecosystem and cannot be sprayed with herbicides or pesticides, or have non-organic fertilizers applied to them. A healthy ecosystem will take several years to establish itself, especially in an open farm area. This food forest is open to all visitors, who can harvest the fruit or vegetables of their choice. After harvesting, they bring them to the shop counter and purchase them at market price. The fruit saplings/plants we planted so far include mango, pineapple, guava, jackfruit, papaya, jujube, custard apple, etc. As a part of organic food cultivation, we are producing various vegetables, such as sweet gourd, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, amaranth, potato, tomato, bean, brinjal, and Indian spinach, water spinach, etc. We also produce some grains (aromatic rice, wheat, maize).
