Mission Vision
Villages are the lifeline of South Asian societies and integral part of our culture. Climate change, however, severely threatens their future prosperity. Bangladesh and South Asia are increasingly exposed to extreme weather and slow onset events caused by climate change, which put rural communities particularly at risk. Our vision is to make our villages and their inhabitants climate-resilient, so that they can absorb climate-induced shocks and protect their lives and livelihoods.
Our Climate Centre’s mission is to contribute to realizing this vision. It is designed to become South Asia’s knowledge hub for the transformative community-based adaptation, climate risk reduction, and rural renewable energy solutions that are essential for our villages’ sustainable development pathways. The Climate Centre is open to the public. A visit to the Climate Park and the Climate Leaning Centre heightens visitors’ awareness of climate change and educates them on how to lower emissions and mitigate climate impacts. Practitioners have the opportunity to improve their skills in trainings. Experts can use the research facilities and co-develop solutions with practitioners and communities. Conferences and other forms of knowledge exchange bring all stakeholders together.
