How we work
Our work is people-centred and envisions a just and caring society where people live in peace, dignity and harmony with God’s creation. Our work is dedicated especially to poor, marginalised, and vulnerable people, as well as young generations, to enable them all to enjoy their rights, realise the SDGs, and maintain sustainable livelihoods, even in climate change hot spots. To reach these goals, we follow the principles of sensitivity, inclusiveness, participation, and non-discrimination. Our work is solutions-oriented and combines awareness raising, empowerment through capacity development, action-oriented research, upscaling, and mainstreaming. We believe in high quality, innovation, and transformation.
We take note that the region’s research capacities are not equally well developed. Knowledge on climate impacts varies widely. So far, most climate-vulnerable rural communities have no access to climate services specific to their needs. Collaborations between communities and research institutions leading to successful solutions has been limited. The Climate Centre, as a platform for action-oriented research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, addresses these gaps, brings together practitioners, academics, and political partners, and thus will foster the upscaling and mainstreaming of community-based adaptation and renewable energy solutions in close consultation with multiple stakeholders.
