Salt Water Lamp

Salt water lamp is a lantern powered by salt water. This device can generate electricity through chemical reactions of salt water. The produced electricity can also be used for charging mobile phones.

Benefits to the user:

  • Get a rechargeable light which is powered by only water and salt
  • Safer than kerosene lantern
  • Less operating cost, refill salt and water only

Contribution to Climate Change Mitigation:

  • Can be used instead of other kerosene or battery powered lamps, so zero greenhouse gas emissions

Regional feasibility:

  • All regions, especially in remote chars and hilly areas where kerosene lamps are lit. (example)

Cost:

  • BDT 1200 – 6000 (Depends on model and facilities).
