Vertical Agriculture

place

Vertical Agriculture is a process where different crops are cultivated on different levels making vertical racks with pots rather than planting them directly on the soil.

Benefits for the users

  • Can protect crops from floods, salinity, and other natural hazards
  • Vegetables can be cultivated quickly in small spaces
  • Easy to maintain

Contribution to Climate Change Adaptation

Where surface soil is not cultivable due to water logging, salinity or other natural calamities, a hanging garden can be an alternative option

Regional Feasibility

All over the country, especially in the coastal and flood-prone areas like Gaibandha, Kurigram, Satkhira, Bagerhat, etc and urban rooftops.

Cost:

BDT 4,000-5,000 (vertical racks – 6 ft x 5 ft)
