A treadle pump is a human-powered suction pump that sits on top of a well and is used for irrigation. It is designed to lift water from a depth of 7 meters or less.

Benefit for the user

  • Costs considerably less
  • Easy to operate and maintain
  • It avoids the formation of GHG

Contribution to Climate Change Adaptation

Farmers most commonly use treadle pumps on small plots of land. It does not require fuel that causes carbon emissions.
