Raised Tube Well

place

The raised tube wells have been set on raised bases (about 4 to 6 feet above the ground level or raised base height may be varied considering the previous experience during flood or inundation) that do not sink during flood or inundation.

Benefit for the user

  • Can get safe drinking water from the raised tube well during a flood
  • People, especially children, become safe from different waterborne diseases like- diarrhea and skin diseases

Contribution to Climate Change Adaptation

Due to climate change, 70-80% of tube wells become inundated almost yearly, resulting in water scarcity and infestation of waterborne diseases like dysentery and diarrhea. This tube well is a sustainable technology that effectively reduces vulnerability to waterborne illnesses by providing access to safe drinking water.

Regional Feasibility

Mainly in flood-prone areas

Cost:

Around 40,000-45,000 BDT
