Hanging Sack Garden

place

The hanging sack garden is modified sack garden. Here, vegetables and herbs are grown in hanging sacks. Each sack consists of a central column of brick chips surrounded by soil. The brick chips ensure the circulation of water throughout the sack.

Benefit for the user

  • The garden can be easily protected from flooding as the sacks are hanging.
  • Allows cultivation in saline and flood-prone areas
  • Larger sacks provide more space than soil beds

Contribution to Climate Change Adaptation

Farmers can cultivate vegetables in flood-prone areas in this system quickly because flooding cannot destroy the crops. In saline-prone areas, farmers can cultivate vegetables through this system to avoid saline soil and water.

Regional Feasibility

Charland and saline-prone areas like Sunamgonj, Moulovibazar, Satkhira, Bagerhat, etc.
