Automated Weather Station
The Automated Weather Station (AWS) at the Climate Park displays real-time weather data and information collected from various sources. The core of this system is an AWS and Monitor to display the information. The weather station is solar-powered, so no additional power is required for data logging and transmitting.
AWS is mainly composed of various sensors to get meteorological data in real time. Sensors which will be reflected are:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Solar Irradiation
- Wind Speed
- Wind Direction
- Rainfall
People from the community receive climate information from the Automated Weather Station. A location-specific forecast has been proposed as an add-on to this system, which would be an independent AWS system that would require running and customizing numerical weather prediction models for the desired location. In the best case, a 10-day forecast can be provided for the target location. At the end of a season, statistical analysis can be performed using observed and forecast data to evaluate the performance of the weather forecast. Researchers could use this data for their research purpose.
