Research and Education
The Climate Center is a unique hub for conducting action-oriented research, where both academics and practitioners from national, regional, and international areas can gather and work independently, or in collaboration. The Centre provides a space for field-based experiments at its location in Gazipur District, as well as at its project area in the coastal belt of Bangladesh, which is highly vulnerable to climate change. Moreover, the place is very amenable to the needs of visiting researchers, PhD candidates, masters students, interns, and volunteers from various college-universities within Bangladesh and beyond. Last but not least, this Centre facilitates the research journey from desk to real field, where rural people face devastating climate impact frequently. Meanwhile, the established solutions in the Centre will inspire new scientific approaches to future improvement of the fates of climate victims.
In Bangladesh, most of the students receive information only from books. Field tasks and visits are rare. Thus, they do not gain sufficient knowledge on the real-world features of their objects of study. The Climate Centre provides students in related fields, from primary schools to universities, opportunities to study several technologies that have been upheld as models in the respective ecological zones. Not only students, but also children and their families, professionals from various organizations, cooperative groups, and CBOs can come to this unique place of interactive climate education, study the technologies, and experience them first-hand. After visiting this place, they can raise awareness among their families and organizations. Sometimes, it is quite difficult for people to visit the various parts of Bangladesh, especially the significant ecological zones. This Centre unites the several ecological zones with essential features, models climate impacts in them, and showcases useful solutions to combat them.
